Maddie Oberholtzer's Historic Game Lifts Women's Soccer Past St. Thomas

Oberholtzer set the program's points and goals record for a single match on Sunday.

ROUND ROCK, Texas - Closing out the weekend with a historic performance, the Concordia Texas women's soccer team defeated the University of St. Thomas by a score of 5-1. Second-year forward Maddie Oberholtzer earned two program records with nine points and four goals (one assist) at the RRMPC on Sunday. Her nine points marks the most in school history, while her four goals ties the school's record as she matched Kendall Williams' four goals from 2011.

The Tornados struck first in the 33rd when a shot by Patricia Heckendorn banged off the right side of the bar and found Oberholtzer on the rebound. Just two minutes later, Oberholtzer returned the favor with an assist to Heckendorn who blasted a shot from outside the back to give CTX a 2-0 lead entering the break.

The Celts had a pair opportunities to break through with shots on goal but senior goalkeeper Lora Tresco held firm with the saves. CTX would add another goal in the 55th when Falynn Pyterek lobbed the ball into the box and found Oberholtzer for the score.

Oberholtzer would earn her third goal in the 86th when she intercepted the keeper's pass and soared the ball into the net. Keeping on the pressure, Emma Visser skipped a pass to Oberholtzer in the final minute of action to finish off the display of excellency.

Concordia will next head to Shreveport to take on Centenary next Friday, October 18th at 7pm.
