GEORGETOWN, Texas - The Concordia Texas volleyball team was downed 3-0 in a road contest against 17th-ranked Southwestern. Libero Isabella Martinez posted a game-high 16 digs at the Robertson Center on Friday.
With a similar theme to the their first match two weeks ago, neither team led by more than three points to lead to a 24-22 lead for the Tornados in the first set. The Pirates would then rattle off five of the last six points to win.
A kill by Brooklynne Fitzgerald capped a 9-2 burst to give CTX an early 12-5 lead in set two. A run by the Pirates would knot the match up at 14-all. Southwestern would then go up two games to none with a 11-3 run. With the momentum, the Pirates were able to close out the match with a 25-15 win in the final set.
Concordia Texas will next take on Schreiner University on the road next Tuesday, October 22nd at 6pm.
