Men's Soccer Blanks Ozarks on the Road

Jose Aguirre posted two assists & one goal in the clean sheet victory.

CLARKSVILLE, Arkansas - The Concordia Texas men's soccer team blanked the University of the Ozarks by a score of 3-0 in a conference contest on the road. Senior forward Jose Aguirre (10 points in the last two matches) posted two assists and a goal at Wilson Soccer Field on Sunday.

Controlling much of the match on both sides of the pitch, Concordia led their opponents in shot attempts at 16-7 (8-4 on goal). Excellent play in the box by the defenders and goalkeeper Joshua Redding, the Tornados held serve for their first clean sheet in SCAC play.

The Tornados struck early in the sixth minute when Aguirre crossed into the box and found Bryan Rios for a header. 10 minutes later, Aguirre made it a 2-0 score when he danced around the defender and fired into the upper right. Keeping on the pressure, the final goal came on a counterattack free run where a tap pass from Aguirre found a streaking Carlos Huato for the final score of the match.

Concordia Texas will now return home to Austin as they will host Austin College this Friday, October 25th. The match is scheduled to be played at St. Edward's University at 3pm.
