Men's Soccer Shines in 6-0 Win Over Dallas

Jose Aguirre scored twice, and Paul Claffey tallied a pair of assists on Sunday.

ROUND ROCK, Texas - The Concordia Texas men's soccer team was dominant in a 6-0 victory over the University of Dallas. Jose Aguirre (two goals) earned his third game with at least two goals in a single match this season, while Paul Claffey posted a pair of assists at the Round Rock Multipurpose Complex on Sunday.

The Tornados tallied a season-high 33 shot attempts (15 on goal) with 15 of them coming in the first half. Aguirre was fouled in the box and converted the penalty kick in the seventh minute for the first goal of the match.

With a 1-0 lead coming out of the break, CTX scored two goals in the first four minutes of the second half as Aguirre & Paul Claffey found the back of the net. Claffey would find Antonio Rios in the middle of the field who then put the ball in the lower right to extend their lead to 4-0 in the 59th.

In the 70th minute, the fifth goal was similar to the goal prior as Christian Cabrera fed Bryan Rios in the middle of the pitch for the score. Amaya then earned his second assist in the 80th when he and Jonathan De La Torre charged into the box and a quick pass turned into a goal.

Concordia Texas will next hit the road for Georgetown, Texas to take on Southwestern University next Friday, February 1st at 5pm.
