ROUND ROCK, Texas - In a night dominated by the Concordia Texas Tornados in a 5-0 win over Schreiner University, graduate senior Kallie Krenz became the program's all-time goals leader (24) and freshman Emma Payne netted her first career hat trick. Goalkeeper Sheridan Habeeb & the Tornados' defense also earned a clean sheet in the conference-opening victory.
CTX dominated the matchup as they outshot the Mountaineers 30-6 (18-3 shots on goal). Concordia broke free in the 32nd when an entry in the box by Falynn Pyterek connected with Payne for her first goal.
Coming out of the half, Concordia immediately made it 3-0 with Krenz's historic goal and Payne's second goal (both in the 52nd minute). Payne would complete the hat trick when a beautiful lob into the box by Jada Bradford found her for a contested header that landed at the bottom of the net. Lorian Lopez would put on the finishing touches in the 80th as she beat the defender & goalie for the final goal of the night.
Concordia Texas will now shift their focus to Trinity this Sunday at 7pm.
