GEORGETOWN, Texas - with a 2-0 road victory over Southwestern University, the Concordia Texas women's soccer team clinched a semifinal spot in the SCAC Tournament. Falynn Pyterek & Erin Folkner found the back of the net as the Tornados earned their fifth-straight clean sheet victory at the Southwestern Soccer Field on Friday.
In a gritty matchup, the Tornados held a slight edge in shot attempts at 11-8 (6-4 shots on goal), while both teams tallied four corners and four saves apiece.Â
The Tornaods broke through on the scoreboard in the 25th when Pyterek fired a dart in the upper left on a free kick just outside the top of the box.Â
Coming out of the half, both teams would hold firm until a corner by Alexandra Smithwick connected with Folkner on the opposite for a header in the 83rd. This would be the final goal of the match as CTX would earn the crucial conference victory.
Concordia Texas will next head to Seguin, Texas to take on Texas Lutheran in the final regular season match of the season this Sunday at 2pm.
