AUSTIN, Texas - The Concordia Texas men's basketball team fell in an 89-83 decision against the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in the season opener. Junior transfer guard
Joey Ramirez led the way with a team-high 20 points in his CTX debut at the Concordia Fieldhouse on Thursday.
CTX trailed 12-8 early before a three by Ramirez jump started a 14-2 run for the Tornados. Maintaining a healthy lead throughout the first half, the Tornados took a 46-36 lead into the break following a layup by
Caleb Golden in the final seconds.
Concordia upped their advantage to as much as 13 points with 17 minutes left before the Crusaders made their run. UMHB would then claim their first lead of the second half at the 13:07 mark.
Their lead would reach as much as 16 points, but the Tornados would file it down to single digits with back-to-back threes by
Corey Thompson with just under two minutes remaining. UMHB would ultimately hold on for a six-point victory.

Concordia Texas will next travel to Abilene for their first road game of the season this Tuesday, November 19th where they will take on Hardin-Simmons. Tip off is set for 6pm.
