ABILENE, Texas - Aaron San Miguel knocked down a pair of free throws to ice a 94-92 victory for The Concordia Texas men's basketball team on the road against Hardin-Simmons University. Junior guard Caleb Golden (15-15 FTM) paced the Tornados with 30 points at the Mabee Complex on Tuesday.
The Tornados led 36-31 with 3:29 left in the first half, before Ciro Baeza fed Deon Williams for a lay that sparked a 14-6 run to end the half. The Cowboys chopped away at the deficit and tied the game at 66-all midway through the second half.
With both teams trading buckets in the final minutes, Hardin-Simmons tallied their largest lead of the half at 92-88 with 1:42 remaining. Senior guard Donovan Stafford would record four straight points to knot the game up at 92-92 with 46 ticks left on the clock.
After recording a stop, San Miguel drove to the basket and was fouled with two seconds left. He would knock down both free throws to help secure the victory in the first road game of the season.
