Austin, Texas - In the final match of day one at the SCAC Crossover, the Concordia Texas volleyball team was bested in four sets against Austin College.
Brooklynne Fitzgerald (22 digs, 20 kills) earned her first career 20-20 double-double, while
Gabrielle Eads posted a career-high 30 digs inside the CTX Fieldhouse on Friday.
In a tightly contested first set, neither team led by more than four points. The Roos would garner a slight edge to claim the game, 25-19.Â
It was a similar theme in the game two as Austin's largest lead came late at 23-19. The Tornados would then come storming back with seven of the final eight points as a kill by
Hannah Wamble gave CTX a 26-24 win.
The Roos raced out to a 7-1 lead in set three, but Concordia closed the gap to 13-11 with a kill by
Camryn Parker midway in to the set. Austin College would ultimately close out the set with a 25-17 victory for 2-1 series lead.Â
Concordia opened up the fourth set with a 11-6 advantage. The Roos would close the gap and tie the game up at 14-apiece. With the set knotted up at 17-17, Austin College closed out the match on an 8-3 run to claim the victory.
Concordia Texas will next look to finish the season strong tomorrow as they will take on Colorado College (11am) & St. Thomas (5pm).
