CLARKSVILLE, Arkanas- The Concordia women's basketball team was outlasted in a hard fought 68-61 contest against the Ozarks on Thursday night. Concordia forward
Chelsea Cogburn posted a season- high of 19 points inside Mabee Gymnasium.
The Eagles held a 16-9 lead early in the match up with a 7-2 run to start the first quarter. Concordia forward Cogborn hits a turnaround jumper to spark a 9-3 burst to cut into the deficit, 27-20.
In the closing moments of the first half, the Ozarks sink a jumper to take a 31-22 edge into the locker room.
With CTX Cogborn laying it in to start the second half, both teams' competitive play on both sides of the ball intensified. Concordia and the Ozarks traded buckets midway through the third quarter before the Eagles built their highest lead of the game on a 10-0 run, heading into the final frame.
After trailing by eight points at the beginning of the fourth quarter, the Tornados attempted to rally, as
Jordan Bravo's long three-pointer sparked an 11-0 run that gave CTX the lead for the first time in the game.
The Eagles would continue to battle their way back into the game and ultimately pull away with a 68-61 victory to claim the contest.
The next tip off is set on February 10th at 1:00 PM in Richardson, TX to take on UT Dallas.
