ABILENE, Texas - The Concordia Texas softball team split a pair of games in a doubleheader against Hardin-Simmons University. Mayson Post earned a complete-game, game one victory, while Kylie Kirk notched her fifth homerun of the season at Lou Morton Ellis Field on Friday.
GAME ONE: W, 4-3
Kylie Denaro, Kirk, & Emily Schmuck all scored in the first frame to give the Tornados an early 3-0 lead. The Cowgirls cut into their deficit with a pair of runs in the bottom of the second.Â
In the top of the fourth, Isabella Vidal laid down a beautiful bunt to score Madeline Vasquez from third. Hardin-Simmons answered with a run of their own to make it a 4-3 game going into the fifth.Â
Post would then assert her dominance & only allow one more runner on base in the final three innings to preserve the game one victory.

GAME TWO: L, 2-1
After a scoreless first three innings, Kirk punched a leadoff homer to left field for the first run of game two. The Cowgirls were able to put two runners in scoring position and tie the game with a sacrifice fly in the fifth.Â
Hardin-Simmons then claimed their first lead of the game at 2-1 with a run in the bottom of the sixth. Down to the final two outs, Concordia put the tying and winning runs on base with hits by Lehew & Grace Coleman. The Cowgirls would then be able to record the final two outs to even the series.Â
