AUSTIN, Texas - The Concordia Texas softball team won their ninth game in a row and completed a series sweep in a 7-4 victory over Sul Ross State University. Emily Schmuck played all nine positions and Megan Hooper recorded her second inside-the-park homerun of the season at Roberts Family Field on Saturday. The Tornados' nine game win streak marks their longest since the 2011 season.
The Lobos surged to a 4-0 lead after posting a pair of runs in the first two innings.  The Tornados got on the board with Hooper's leadoff homerun in bottom of the third. Concordia would then load the bases and a two-RBI triple by Kylie Kirk made it a 4-3 game. With Grace Coleman up next to bat, she tied the game heading into the fourth with a RBI groundout.
Threatening to take reclaim the lead with two runners in scoring position and one out in the top of the fifth, savvy fielding by Emily Moses at third helped prevent the Lobos from causing any damage. CTX proceeded to take their first lead of the game in the fifth with a sacrifice fly by Kirk to score Madeline Velasquez.
Concordia added insurance runs in the sixth, starting with a RBI-triple by Sydnee Failla that scored Moses. Ellie Congalton then connected on a sacrifice fly that brought Failla home for a 7-4 score.
