Softball Bested in Series Finale Against McMurry

Kylie Kirk & Molly Olivarez tallied two hits and one run each on Saturday.

AUSTIN, Texas - The Concordia Texas softball team was defeated 5-3 in the series finale against McMurry University. Kylie Kirk & Molly Olivarez recorded two hits and one run each at Roberts Family Field on Saturday.

It was a pitcher's duel early in the game as both teams only combined for four hits and no runs through the first three innings. The Warhawks got on the board with one run in the top of the fourth, but the Tornados responded with a run scored by Olivarez in the bottom of the frame. They then took the lead with a standup double by Christian Everett that scored Megan Hooper.

The War Hawks tied the game up at 2-all in the top of the fifth and threatened to take the lead with a runner in scoring position, but a pair of web gems by Kylie Pavlicek & Everett kept the score tied. McMurry would reclaim the lead at 5-2 in the sixth.

In the final half inning of action, CTX put two runners on and the tying run at the plate. With two outs and a full count, Olivarez scored Kirk with a RBI single. The War Hawks would eventually find the third out and collect the win.

Concordia Texas will next travel to Brownwood, Texas to take on Howard Payne for a series starting next Friday, April 26. First pitch of the doubleheader is set for 4m.
