BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Concordia Texas softball team split a doubleheader in the road finale at Howard Payne University. The Tornados exploded for six runs in the second frame of the game one victory at Lady Jacket Field on Wednesday.
GAME ONE: W, 7-5
Howard Payne opened the game with a 3-0 lead after the first. Concordia would immediately answer as they juiced the bases and a Megan Hooper RBI-single scored Addison Lehew for their first run.
After Emily Schmuck scored Kylie Pavlicek with a fielder's choice RBI, Kylie Kirk gave CTX the lead at 5-3 when she cleared the bases with a three-run triple. Grace Coleman then added the sixth run with a single to centerfield to assist Kirk home. 
Later in the third with Schmuck in scoring position, Christian Everett singled to the second baseman to extend the advantage to 7-3. The Lady Jackets cut into the deficit with a pair of runs in the fourth, but Concordia would prevail in game one of the doubleheader.

GAME TWO: L, 6-2
Through the first three innings of action, Howard Payne held a 6-0 lead. The Torandos got on the scoreboard in the top of the fourth when Pavlicek singled to left center to score Molly Olivarez.
The Tornados then made it a 6-2 game when Kylie Denaro singled up the middle to round Schmuck home in the fifth. The Lady Jackets would ultimately hold on to produce a split in the matchup.

Concordia Texas will now take on UMHB for the final series of the regular season, starting this Friday, May 3rd. First pitch is set for 3pm.
