BOX SCORE CHICAGO - In what was their second ever appearance in the second round of the NCAA Tournament, the Concordia Texas men's tennis team was bested by a score of 5-2 against the second-ranked University of Chicago. The Tornados led by a score of 2-1 after doubles play on Friday.
Chicago claimed the first win with a victory on flight three, but Concordia responded with two hard fought wins by Daniel Beckles / Kishan Kersten (8-7[7-5]) and Joshua Bode / Adrian Munguia (8-6).Â
With all six singles matches starting concurrently, the Phoenix notched three straight wins on courts four, five & six to take a 4-2 lead in the series. With the first three flights still battling, Munguia kept the Tornados alive as he split the first two sets with his opponent. Chicago would go on to survive with a win by retirement on flight three to end the match.
This now concludes the 2023-24 campaign for the Concordia Texas men's tennis team. Thank you all to the families, friends, & supporters of the Tornados this season
