Women's Soccer Shines in Season Opener against Huston-Tillotson

Patricia Heckendorn notched a pair of goals on Friday.

ROUND ROCK, Texas - The Concordia Texas women's soccer team dominated in a 4-1 victory over Huston-Tillotson University. Grad senior Patricia Heckendorn netted the first two goals of the season for the Tornados inside the Round Rock Multipurpose Complex on Friday.

The Tornados outshot the Rams 24-6 (12-3 shots on goal). Heckendorn ripped a Rams' defender and fired a laser from the right wing of the box in the seventh  for the first score of the season.

The Rams tied the game in the 23rd with a ricocheted ball, but Alexandra Smithwick crossed a lob to the opposite side of the box and found Heckendorn to regain the lead for the Tornados in the 24th.

CTX were on the prowl for much of the second half as they remained in the front third for the majority of the second. They pushed their lead to 3-1 in the 73rd minute when Audrey Frost slipped a through pass to Maddie Oberholtzer.

The finishing touches came in the 81st when Hannah Loya found Erin Folkner on the left wing who then powered a goal into the upper right.

Concordia Texas will next host UMHB on Labor Day. Kick off is set for 7:30pm.
