ROUND ROCK, Texas - In a night where rain poured down for the majority of the match, the Concordia Texas women's soccer team was bested by UMHB. The Crusaders found a late goal to escape with a win at the Round Rock Multipurpose Complex on Friday.
The Tornados had a chance early in the third minute when Patricia Heckendorn fired a shot towards the bottom center and the shot was narrowly saved by the Crusaders' keeper. UMHB controlled possession for much of the first half, but timely tackles and saves by CTX kept the score 0-0 heading into the half.
Concordia kicked up the offensive pressure in the second half as both teams jockeyed for the deciding score. The Tornados were able to force three straight corner kicks in the 78th minutes, but UMHB survived and eventually cleared out the ball. They would then notch the game winner in the 84th.
Concordia Texas will next travel to California to take on Whittier College next Friday, September 6th. Kickoff is set for 9pm CST.
