AUSTIN, Texas - The Concordia Texas volleyball team split a pair of matches in the home opener on Friday. The Tornados swept Whitman College & were bested by UT Dallas inside the CTX Fieldhouse.
vs. Whitman, W 3-0 (25-23, 25-23, 25-19)
The Tornados led 9-7, before a kill by Camryn Parker sparked an 8-1 run for CTX. A run by the Blues evened the score at 20-all, but a kill by Hannah Wamble helped Concordia surge to a 25-23 win in game one.Â
Concordia jumped out to a 5-1 advantage in set two. Whitman would chip away at their deficit and ultimately take a 20-16 lead late into the set. With the Blues up 23-20, CTX surged ahead with a 5-0 run to go up two games to none.
The score was knotted up at 12-12 when a kill by Rayna Pack initiated a 9-2 burst for Concordia. They would then ultimately cruise to a 25-19 win in game three to complete the sweep.

vs. UT Dallas, L 3-0 (24-26, 25-22, 26-24)
The Tornados led late in all three games against the Division II foe. They led 21-20 late in game one, before the Comets scored four straight points. CTX then tied the game at 24-all, but UT Dallas scored the final two points of set one.
In set two, UT Dallas led 21-19 deep into the game. CTX would respond with three straight points to take a one-point lead. The Comets would find a way to muster the final four points to take a 2-0 series lead.Â
Concordia surged ahead for a 17-9 advantage in game three. Keeping the Comets at arms length, CTX went ahead 23-18. UT Dallas would ultimately tie the game at 24-24, before claiming the match victory with the final two points.
