HOUSTON,Texas- The Concordia Tornados left it all on the court in their matchup against the St. Thomas Celts, battling until the final buzzer in a spirited 77-55 contest at the Jerabeck Activity and Athletic Center.
Joey Ramirez was a standout for Concordia, delivering a double-double performance with 17 points and 10 rebounds. From clutch layups to dominating second-chance opportunities, Ramirez kept the Tornados fueled and in the fight. Donovan Stafford added to the effort with 11 points, showing ice-cold precision by converting all five of his free throws.
Trailing 42-29 at halftime, Concordia emerged from the locker room with grit and fire. The Tornados turned up their defensive intensity, with Corey Thompson and Adolfo Martinez locking down on defense and disrupting the Celts' offensive rhythm. Fast-break opportunities and relentless rebounding, led by Ramirez and Tariq Muhammad, gave Concordia momentum as they chipped away at the deficit.
Cameron Thompson's aggressive steal in the final minutes sparked a 6-0 run, capped off with a smooth layup which would mark Concordia's final scoring push.
