AUSTIN, Texas - The Concordia Texas men's basketball team beat Schreiner 86 to 78. Donovan Stafford led the way for the Tornados with 21 points inside Deb & Don Christian Fieldhouse on Friday.
The Tornados generated 15 2nd-chance points along with 27 points off turnovers.
This would be a key cog to their hot start, opening up the first half with a 20-9 lead against the Mountaineers. The Mountaineers would respond back but the Tornados would build off that hot start to take a 48 to 34 lead at the break.
In the second half, the Mountaineers would chip away at the lead. They would cut the deficit to a four-point game with 4:01 to go in the second half. CTX would pull through as they hit a pair of free throws by Stafford and Aaron San Miguel to put away the game.Â
The Tornados will next host Trinity on Sunday Jan. 26 at 2pm.
