AUSTIN, Texas - The Concordia Texas men's basketball team fell in a tightly contested affair with Trinity University by a score of 84-80. Donovan Stafford led all scorers with 26 points, while Joey Ramirez tallied a 10-point, 10-rebound effort inside the Deb & Don Fieldhouse on Sunday.

CTX raced out to a 16-5 lead through the first five minutes of action. The Tigers would chisel away at the deficit and take a 32-30 lead with just under five minutes left in the half. With both teams trading buckets, Aaron San Miguel found Stafford for a mid range jumper to give Concordia a 41-40 advantage heading into the half.

Neither team would lead by more than six points in the second half. With the game knotted at 77-all, the Tigers were awarded four-straight free throws to take a four-point lead with 2:09 remaining. The Tornados answered with a corner three by Adolfo Martinez at the 1:51 mark.

Later in the game with seven seconds left & the Tigers up 83-80, Trinity would foul to keep Concordia from being able to tie the game.

Concordia Texas will next head up to Georgetown to take on Southwestern this Friday, January 31st. Tip off is set for 7:30pm.
