BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Concordia Texas men's basketball team falls to Howard Payne by a score of 113 to 101. Donovan Stafford and Joey Ramirez led the way for the Tornados with 17 points each inside the Brownwood Coliseum on Tuesday.
Four more Tornados in David Martinez (14 points), Aaron San Miguel (13 points), Henri Marcus Vizcarrondo Jr (13 points), & Ciro Baeza (10 points) reached double figures as CTXÂ had good production from the bench with 51 total points.
The Tornados held a slight 11-6 edge, before the Yellowjackets claimed a double digit lead with a 20-5 run at the 12:55 mark. A spirited comeback effort by CTX would even the game at 36-all with 5:15 left in the first half. With both teams trading buckets, the score would go into the half with Concordia trailing 53-50.Â
Howard Payne extends their lead to 12 with 17:35 left, but a layup by Stafford sparked a Tornados run where they would claim a 73-72 advantage with just under 13 minutes left to play.Â
Later in the game with the Yellowjackets up by one point, they would put the game away with a 16-2 burst. This would allow Howard Payne to close out the game for the win.
