AUSTIN, Texas - The Concordia Texas volleyball team swept the University of Huston-Tillotson University at the Deb & Don Fieldhouse. The Tornados used a balanced effort to snap a four-match losing streak.
CTX led 5-4 as a kill by
Amaya Horton sparked a 10-2 run for CTX in game one. Their lead would reach double figures late in the set as they would go on to win 25-15.
CTX surged ahead to a 6-0 advantage in the second frame. Later leading 16-12, a spike by
Hannah Francis initiated a 5-0 run by the Tornados to give them breathing room.
The Rams answered with an 11-2 run of their own to cut their deficit to 23-22. Concordia would produce two of the final three points to go up two games to none.
In the third set, the Tornados tallied four straight points to earn an 18-13 edge. This would give them the space needed to help earn the sweep with a 25-19 triumph.
Concordia Texas will next resume SCAC play this weekend in their first SCAC Crossover of the season. The Tornados will travel to Seguin, Texas where they will compete in three matches, first against the University of the Ozarks this Friday, October 3rd. First serve is set for 9am.
