AUSTIN, Texas - The Concordia Texas volleyball team surged past McMurry University with a 3-1 victory. The Tornados claimed a gentleman's sweep as
Brooklynne Fitzgerald (16 digs, 15 kills) posted a double-double inside the Deb & Don Fieldhouse on Friday.
The Warhawks' lead grew to as much as 20-12 in the first set, before a
Malarie Mican kill capped off a 4-0 burst for CTX. McMurry would ultimately go on to claim the set at 25-18.
McMurry then held a 19-15 advantage in set two when a spike by
Madeline Vaughn sparked a 10-3 flurry to even the series at one-apiece.
CTX trailed 10-9 early in the third frame before roaring ahead with seven straight points. Later in the set with Concordia leading 18-14, they would earn more distance with four consecutive tallies en route to a 25-18 win.
In the final game, Concordia's lead would reach as much as 11 points and they would leave no doubt with a 25-14 win.
Concordia Texas will next host Schreiner for Senior Day tomorrow, October 17th. First serve is set for 1pm.
