SEGUIN, Texas – Brooklynne Fitzgerald delivered a match-high 17 kills and 20 digs, but the Concordia Texas volleyball team came up short in a 3-1 loss to Texas Lutheran (25-23, 25-17, 21-25, 25-20) on Saturday afternoon at Memorial Gymnasium.
In a tightly contested opening set, the Tornados battled back to tie the score at 23-23, but the Bulldogs closed it out with back-to-back points to take the early lead. TLU carried that momentum into the second frame, using a mid-set run to pull away for a 25-17 win and a 2-0 advantage.
Concordia responded in the third set, riding a balanced attack and a .204 hitting percentage to stay alive. Fitzgerald led the charge with several key kills, while Kinlea Reeder added nine kills on a .429 clip to help CTX secure a 25-21 win.
The fourth set saw the Tornados hang close early, but TLU used a late push to seal the match with a 25-20 victory.
Fitzgerald paced the offense with 17 kills and chipped in 20 digs for a double-double. Reeder added nine kills, while Camryn Parker tallied seven. Aniyah Tompkins and Emma Rosier combined for 35 assists, and outside hitter Malarie Mican led the back row with a match-high 28 digs.
Concordia Texas will return home to host Howard Payne on Tuesday, November 4th at 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM!
