AUSTIN, Texas – The Concordia Texas men's basketball team stayed perfect on the season with an intense 122-102 victory over Hardin-Simmons University inside the Deb & Don Christian Fieldhouse.
Senior guard Joey Ramirez delivered a historic performance, pouring in 44 points to lead all scorers. His output ties for the fourth-most points in program history and surpasses his own previous career-high of 41 set on Feb. 7 of last season. Ramirez added 13 rebounds, five assists, and five steals in a dominant all-around effort.
The Tornados (5-0) set the tone early, racing to a 58-45 halftime lead behind relentless pressure and transition offense. Hardin-Simmons (4-5) battled back in the second half, but Concordia's pace proved too much as CTX piled up 56 fast-break points and forced 33 turnovers.
Alongside Ramirez, Anariss Brandon powered his way to 25 points and seven steals, while freshman Tremayne Martin chipped in 10 points off the bench. The Tornados' depth was on full display, with 43 points coming from reserves.
Concordia's defense keyed the win, converting 47 points off Hardin-Simmons turnovers and holding the Cowboys to just 32 percent shooting from beyond the arc.
