GEORGETOWN, Texas – The Concordia Texas women's basketball team showed resilience in the fourth quarter but ultimately dropped a 72–61 decision to Southwestern inside the Corbin J Robertson Center on Tuesday evening.
The Tornados struggled to find rhythm early, scoring just eight points in the opening frame and trailing 17–8 after the first quarter. Southwestern maintained control through the middle periods, outscoring CTX 17–13 in the second and 17–15 in the third to build a steady advantage.
Concordia mounted a late push in the fourth, pouring in 25 points behind the efforts of Shanna Brown, who finished with a team-high 19 points and five rebounds. Taysie Trejo and Madison Martinez each added 10 points, with Trejo contributing four assists and Martinez knocking down seven free throws. Samantha Ising anchored the paint with seven rebounds and six points, while Alice Wilkinson chipped in six points off the bench.
Southwestern was paced by Neela Castillo's 26 points, including five three-pointers, and Trinity Benitez's 18 points and nine rebounds. The Pirates shot 37.5 percent from the field and converted 17-of-22 free throws to hold off Concordia's late rally.
CTX finished with 32 rebounds and 15 second-chance points, but Southwestern's balanced attack and timely shooting proved decisive.
