AUSTIN, Texas- The Concordia Texas women's basketball team delivered a dominant performance on their home court, dismantling Southwestern University 64-50 in a statement victory at Concordia Fieldhouse.
Kiki Gonzales led the charge with a stellar double-double, posting 16 points and 10 rebounds to anchor the Tornados in Austin.
After a back-and-forth first quarter, Concordia turned up the intensity in the second, locking down defensively and outscoring Southwestern 17-8 to take control of the game. The Tornados owned the interior, outscoring the Pirates 36-24 in the paint while dominating the boards. Destiny Mathews was everywhere, racking up 11 points and four steals, while Taysie Trejo and Katelyn Tietjen each added nine points to keep Concordia firmly in command.
The defense was relentless, forcing 18 turnovers and converting them into 15 points, completely disrupting Southwestern's offensive rhythm.
Concordia never let up, applying pressure until the final buzzer. Clutch contributions from Lynn Bardawil and Jazlyn Braithwaite off the bench helped maintain the lead, and the Pirates had no answer for the Tornados' suffocating defense and relentless attack.
