KERRVILLE, Texas - The Concordia Texas baseball team outlasted Schreiner in a 11-10 slugfest in the series opener. Eric Garcia launched his first homer of the season at Bob Henery Field on Saturday.
The Tornados scored first when Bo Dinscore slapped a RBI-double to score Kalen Clark in the second. Later in the frame, Logan Smith & Carson Riley collected RBIs to bring home Dinscore & Landon Hyle for a 3-0 lead.
Schreiner scored twice in the bottom of the third, but Riley notched a two-RBI double (Smith & Garcia) for a 5-2 lead. Schreiner would then even the score at 5-5 with three runs scored in the bottom of the fourth.
Offense would pick back up in the seventh as CTX juiced the bases and a Dinscore walk scored Zach Seigrist. Hyle would step back up to the plate and earn a two-RBI single that scored Aaron Gomez & Colby Christian. Garcia would then clear the bases with his three-run shot to left field for a 11-5 lead.
The Mountaineers would initiate a comeback effort with three runs in the seventh, and another run in the eighth to make it 11-9. They would then load the bases and cross one run home for an 11-10 score, but Jake Lancaster would step in and earn the save to clinch the victory for CTX.
