SAN ANTONIO, Texas – In a high-intensity SCAC showdown on the road, the Concordia Tornados brought early heat and fearless energy against Trinity University before falling 11-2 in five innings.
After a scoreless first, Concordia came out swinging in the second. Senior catcher
Molly Olivarez ripped a base hit up the middle to spark the offense, followed by a tough, well-placed single from
Taylor Smrt, who continues to deliver under pressure. Both runners went to work on the bases—swiping second and third to flip the pressure back on Trinity. That's when veteran slugger
Karlee Mathis stepped in and delivered a missile into right field, plating two runs and giving CTX an early 2-0 lead that fired up the Tornado dugout.
On the mound, it was a group effort from
Mathis,
Addison Lehew, and
Krista Burg, who all showed toughness and composure as Trinity's offense put together a big second inning. Despite the run surge, Concordia's pitching staff kept attacking, challenging batters, and refusing to fold.
Lehew also contributed at the plate with a sharp single, while
Caylee Spangle and
Kayla Looper brought next-level hustle on the bases, adding to Concordia's five total steals on the night.
The Tornados stayed aggressive and never backed down—continuing to grind at-bats and compete until the Tigers pulled away late.
