Softball Run-Rules Schreiner in Series Opener

Malarie Mican recorded game-highs of three hits and three runs scored on Friday.

KERRVILLE, Texas - The Concordia Texas softball team run-ruled Schreiner University by a score of 9-1 in the series opener. Malarie Mican recorded game-highs of three hits and three runs scored at Mountaineer Softball Field on Friday.

The Tornados got started early in the first frame with the bases loaded and an Addison Lehew two-RBI double that scored Mican & Kylie Denaro. At the next at bat, Molly Olivarez escorted Kylie Kirk home with a sac fly. Taylor Smrt would then cap off the four-run frame with a RBI-single from Taylor Smrt that scored Lehew.

They then made it 5-0 in the second when Denaro put the ball in play and scored Mican. Adding another run in the top of the third was Christian Everett, who slapped a RBI-double to center field and scored Smrt. They would then make it 8-0 with a two-RBI double from Denaro that brought home Everett & Mican.

Schreiner would score one run in the bottom of the fourth, but CTX would extend the lead to 9-1 in the top of the fifth with a Mican groundout RBI that scored Everett. They would then record the final three outs to claim game one of the series.

Concordia Texas will conclude the series with Schreiner in a doubleheader tomorrow. First pitch is scheduled for noon.
