SHERMAN, Texas - The Concordia Texas softball team claimed game one of the series at Austin College with a 7-4 victory.
Kylie Kirk powered a homer at Sherman High on Saturday.
CTX juiced the bases in the first and went up 2-0 as Kylie Denaro scored on a wild pitch & Mayson Post collected a RBI-walk to score Addison Lehew. They then went up 5-0 in the second with a trio of RBI-singles from Malarie Mican, Kirk, & Lehew.
The Roos answered in the bottom of the second with a pair of runs to make it 5-2. Both teams' offense would remain quiet for the next three frames of action, before Grace Coleman singled up the middle to bring home Harley Drouillard in the sixth.
Kirk would then up the lead to 7-2 in the top of the seventh with her solo shot. Austin College would produce two runs in the bottom of the inning, but CTX would go on to hold them off for the victory.
Concordia Texas & Austin College will conclude the series with a doubleheader tomorrow. First pitch is scheduled for noon.
