AUSTIN, Texas - Concordia Texas softball utility player
Kylie Kirk has been named to the NFCA All-Region X First Team. The SCAC Player of the Year is only the 4th Tornado to be named to an All-Region Team & the first ever to make the First Team.
Kirk a sophomore utility player from Liberty Hill, Texas is the first Tornado to be named conference Player of the Year since Jessica Rattan in 2011. She has put together one of the most dynamic seasons of recent memory in the SCAC sitting at the top of several of both hitting and pitching statistical categories heading into this weekend's conference tournament. At the plate, Kirk currently sits in the top five in the SCAC in batting average (.437 – 5th), home runs (6 – T2nd), triples (4 – T4th), RBI (37 – 3rd), doubles (13 – 3rd) and slugging percentage (.796 – 2nd).
Kirk has scored 32 runs on the season, currently eighth-most in the SCAC, while her 45 total hits and .488 on-base percentage both sit 11th in the league going into the weekend. In the circle, Kirk has been equally impressive, currently ranked tied for second in complete games (12), fourth in wins (11), fifth in strikeouts (76), eighth in ERA (2.49) and ninth in both innings pitched (81.2) and WHIP (1.27). In total, Kirk is currently ranked top-10 or better in 14 different hitting and pitching categories. Kirk is the first player since former member Rhodes'Â
Sara Bowen in 2011 to reach 35 plus RBI at the plate and 75 plus strikeouts in the circle.Â
