BRIDGEWATER, Massachusetts - The Concordia Texas baseball team reached the Regional Finals by splitting a pair of matchups with Endicott College & Oswego State. Jake Townsend lifted the Tornados into the championship series with a walk-off shot against the Lakers & Ralph Wallace III earned his second relief win of the weekend at Alumni Field.
GAME ONE: vs. Endicott, L 11-0
Endicott claimed the lead with a run in the bottom of the first. They then added five more runs in the third to take control. The Tornados were bested at the plate as they recorded a season-low two hits and their first shutout of the season.
GAME TWO: vs. Oswego State, W 9-7
The Tornados, who were the home team in this game, struck first in the second with Matthew Armes capitalizing on the first of six Laker errors. Oswego State responded immediately with a run in the next half-inning.
CTX loaded the bases in the fifth & would reclaim the lead with a sac fly from Colby Christian that scored Carson Riley. The Lakers would then take their first lead of the game with two runs in the sixth and one more in the seventh for a 6-2 advantage.
Reducing the deficit in half was Zach Seigristwith a two-run homer in the seventh. The Lakers responded with another run for a 7-4 advantage heading into the bottom of the eighth.
Concordia produced a pair of unearned runs in the eighth to go into the final inning down 7-6. Down to the final out and runners on the corner, Townsend powered the three-run homer on his first swing of the day to send the Tornados into the next round.
Concordia Texas will rematch with Endicott tomorrow in the championship series of the regionals, needing two wins. First pitch is set for 10am CST (11am EST).
