AUSTIN, Texas - Concordia University Texas Athletics is proud to announce a two-year broadcasting extension with Big Daddy Media, continuing a long-standing partnership that has brought CTX athletics to life for fans across Texas and beyond.
The new agreement extends through the 2026-27Â season and solidifies a relationship that began in 2012 under the K-MAC Sports banner. Big Daddy Media CEO Chuck Licata reflected on the milestone:
"This two-year contract means a lot to Big Daddy Media, as well as me personally. The fact it's a two-year deal means — in the second year of the agreement — we'll hit the 15-year mark in my relationship with Concordia University of Austin. I'm thrilled to work with the CTX community, not only for the broadcasts but for speaking engagements and other university relationships and events. It's a joy to work with — and be a part of — the Concordia family."
CTX's broadcast history with Licata and then-KMAC Sports began February 3, 2012, with a thrilling 10–9 walk-off win over Southwestern. Then-senior Matt McManemin famously told the broadcast crew he would "lean into one" to bring in the winning run – and he did just that. The moment earned McManemin the nickname "Hit Man," marking the start of a long-running tradition of player nicknames from the booth.
Over the years, the broadcast operation has evolved tremendously:
- From 2012–2014, broadcasts were audio-only, with video added in 2015 and full multi-camera broadcasts debuting in 2019.
- During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, broadcasts became vital as fans were kept out of stadiums. Big Daddy Media covered both baseball and basketball in 2021.
Licata has also grown into a valued member of the CTX community beyond the press box. Since 2015, he's spoken at various Concordia events, including the CTX Dining With The Stars banquet and, most recently, the 2025 Hall of Fame banquet.
Interim Director of Athletics Matt Wallis expressed his excitement for the deal:
"Big Daddy Media has been an incredible partner for more than a decade, and this extension ensures our student-athletes' stories continue to reach fans, families, and alumni everywhere. The quality of their broadcasts reflects the pride and passion of Tornado Athletics, and we're thrilled to see this relationship grow even stronger through 2027."
The new extension ensures fans will continue to enjoy high-quality, multi-camera coverage of Tornado Athletics while preserving a unique relationship that has become an integral part of CTX sports culture.
