Men's Soccer Battles to Scoreless Draw at #13 Southwestern

The Tornados recorded their second straight shutout on Friday.

ROUND ROCK, Texas - The Concordia Texas men's soccer team battled to a 0-0 draw against 13th-ranked Southwestern University. Leonel Cuellar (10 saves) & the Tornados pitched their second consecutive shutout at the Southwestern Varsity Fields on Friday.

The action was furious from the start as a header by the Pirates smacked the top of the cross bar, but a Tornados' counter attack would see Nehemia Harper get off a clean shot that was clipped by Southwestern's keeper.

CTX would have another two good chances a few minutes later to score as attempts by Christian Serrato & Jesse Garfias would also be saved. In the 20th minute, Alejandro Rojas would also fire off a shot in the box that missed just high of the goal.

After a scoreless first half, CTX's first attempt at a goal in the second frame came via a lob pass on a counterattack where Edmond Elone hammered a shot that ricocheted off the right cross bar in the 60th. As action progressed, Concordia took control in the final 20 minutes of the match as action progressed, but were unable to notch the game winner.

Concordia will next travel to San Antonio to take on 6th-ranked Trinity this Sunday, September 14th. Kick off is set for 6pm.
