AUSTIN, Texas - The Concordia Texas volleyball team dominated with a home-opening sweep against Our Lady of the Lake University.
Brooklynne Fitzgerald &
Malarie Mican recorded double-doubles in the win at the Deb & Don Christian Fieldhouse on Wednesday.
Both teams were neck-and-neck in the first set for a 16-16 tie, before CTX would see their largest lead of the game at 21-17 following a kill by Mican. The Saints cut the lead back down to one, but Concordia would close out the set with a 25-22 victory.
The Saints had the momentum for the majority of set two as they pushed their advantage to 17-10. Later in the set with a 22-15 OLLU lead, a set up by
Isabella Martinez & a kill by Fitzgerald would swing the tide in favor of the Tornados as Concordia would surge to a 23-23 tie.
A pair of errors by OLLU would cap off the 10-1 run to put CTX up 2-0 in the series. Both teams would once again see themselves knotted up late in game three with a 22-all score. An
Aniyah Tompkins to
Camryn Parker spike would put the Tornados up for good as Fitzgerald would put on the finishing touches with a kill & ace to secure the sweep.
