Men's Soccer Downed at UMHB

Jesse Garfias tallied a goal for the Tornados on Thursday.

BELTON, Texas - The Concordia Texas men's soccer team was downed by a score of 3-1 at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. Junior Jesse Garfias scored for the Tornados at the Cru Soccer Field on Thursday.

The Crusaders scored the lone goal of the first half on a free kick lob into the box that was head in to the upper right in the 24th. They would then take a 2-0 lead in the 50th with another goal that ricocheted off the hands of goalkeeper Leonel Cuellar.

With both teams continuing to battle, CTX would have a penalty kick opportunity with a handball call in the 88th as Garfias would calmly score.

Pressing for the equalizer, the Tornados would almost find it with a header by Nehemia Harper smacking the top of the woodwork. UMHB would then capitalize on the final play to score and put the game out of reach.

Concordia Texas will now return back for their first home match of the season next Tuesday, September 23rd where they will host ETBU for Senior Day. Kick off is set for 7pm.
