ROUND ROCK, Texas - The Concordia Texas men's soccer team dominated with a 3-1 win over East Texas Baptist on Senior Night. Bryan Rios, Ayden Hildreth, & Alejandro Rojas (3 points) all found the back of the net at the Round Rock Multipurpose Complex on Tuesday.
On a counter attack, Rojas connected with Rios for the goal early in the sixth minute of action. With both teams battling for position, a corner kick for the Tornados would almost result in a Jesse Garfias header that was saved high off the keeper's finger tips.
The second goal would come in the 45th with less than 15 seconds left in the half when a two-tap pass from Benjamin Ponce & Garfias found Hildreth streaking down the left wing for the score.
Coming out of the break, a run by Joseph Perez resulted in a foul in the box for a penalty kick. Rios would then fire the penalty kick for a 3-0 lead in the 50th.
The Tigers would score in the 66th to reduce their deficit. With another opportunity in the 84th, ETBU had a 1on1 with the keeper where Ali Hammoud would make an incredible save. This would be the final threat from the Tigers as CTX would go on to victory.
Concordia Texas will next kick off conference play in the SCAC as they will head to Longview, Texas to take on LeTourneau University this Friday, September 26th. Kick off is set for 7:30pm.
