KERRVILLE, Texas - The Concordia Texas volleyball team was bested by a score of 3-0 against the Schreiner University Mountaineers. Brooklynne Fitzgerald and Emma Rozier posted double-doubles inside Stephens Family Arena on Friday.
Schreiner earned an early 12-8 lead in game one, before extending it to 23-16. A late rally by the Tornados would get the score to 24-20, but the Mountaineers would claim the set.Â
CTX surged ahead to a 6-3 advantage that was capped off by a pair of Fitzgerald spikes. Schreiner responded with a 10-4 run to claim the lead. CTX would later be down 18-16 as the Mountaineers closed out the set on a 9-2 run.Â
Schreiner would maintain momentum for a 7-2 advantage in the third set, but a kill by Katherine Dedear would spark the Tornados to close it to 8-6. Another burst by the Mountaineers would grow their lead to 18-11. Concordia clawed their way back into the set for a 23-21 score, but Schreiner scored the final two points for the win.
