LONGVIEW, Texas - The Concordia Texas women's soccer team earned a gritty 1-0 win against LeTourneau University in the conference opener. Abbie Adcock netted her first collegiate goal for the game winner at the LETU Soccer Field on Friday.
The Tornados would get on the board early when a lead lob from Riley Jackson found a streaking Adcock who powered in the goal from the left wing. LeTourneau would look to answer two minutes later with a shot, but Avery Wright would corral the ball.Â
Looking to go up two, another shot from Cecelia Escobar was saved on a diving attempt from the Yellowjackets' goalkeeper. Both teams would produce scoring chances, but neither would convert in the first for a 1-0 CTX advantage at the break.
Concordia saw another scoring chance in the 64th with a one-on-keeper shot by Escobar that sailed wide left. Keeping up the pressure, the Tornados would come close to another score. In the end, Concordia fended off LeTourneau to claim the victory.
Concordia Texas will next head to Sherman, Texas to take on Austin College this Sunday, September 28th. Kick off is set for noon.
