SHERMAN, Texas - The Concordia Texas women's soccer team posted an incredible 3-2 comeback against the Austin College Roos. Karis Hickey, Avery Walker (3 points), & Tatum Winn scored at the Jack Pierce Soccer Complex on Sunday.
A shot just outside the top of the box from Gabrielle Kessler missed to the left of the net in the 11th. The Tornados would counterattack in the 14th for another scoring chance when Emma Payne sent in a cross that found Maddie Oberholtzer who kicked the ball wide right.
The Roos would see their first real scoring chance in the 23rd when a high lob with find their forward who missed a goal on a 1v1 opportunity with the keeper. A lob into the box would bounce around and find Hickey for the score in the 33rd minute of action.
Austin College would net a goal in the final minute of the first half. They would then produce a goal in the 51st to take the lead. With the momentum on the Roos' side, the refs would give Riley Jackson her second yellow card to put the Tornados down to a 11 versus 10 disadvantage.Â
CTX would shake back & tie the match with a penalty kick scored by Walker in the 70th. The Tornados would then net the go-ahead goal in the 78th with Winn's power shot to the upper left.Â
With less than 10 seconds remaining a desperation lob into the box by Austin found a forward for a score with four seconds left, but the AR would call her offsides to give CTX the victory.
Concordia Texas will next host Hendrix College this Friday, October 3rd. Kick off is set for 5pm.
