AUSTIN, Texas – The Concordia Texas women's basketball team battled throughout but came up short in a 66–58 contest against McMurry on Friday night inside the Deb and Don Christian Fieldhouse.
The Tornados found themselves playing from behind early as McMurry opened the game on an 8–0 run and shot 40 percent in the first quarter to take a 25–18 lead. CTX generated quality looks from deep, knocking down six first‑quarter threes but the War Hawks rebounding advantage and second‑chance scoring helped them maintain control.
McMurry continued to apply pressure in the second frame, stretching its lead to 42–31 at halftime behind a dominant interior presence. The War Hawks finished the night with 59 rebounds, including 22 offensive boards, which led to extended possessions and timely scoring.
Concordia's bench kept the Tornados within striking distance. Taysie Trejo delivered a team‑high 14 points, including four made threes, while adding four assists and two steals. Alice Wilkinson provided an efficient 10 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists, and Shanna Brown matched her with 10 points of her own.
Sophomore guard Kiyah Hatcher gave CTX a spark with 10 points and 9 rebounds, nearly securing a double‑double in just 21 minutes. The Tornados reserves combined for 31 points, outscoring McMurry's bench by a wide margin.
Despite trailing by as many as 17 in the third quarter, Concordia continued to chip away. A late push in the fourth highlighted by threes trimmed the deficit to single digits, but McMurry's early cushion held as the War Hawks closed out the win.
