CTX Secures 74–63 Home Victory Over Schreiner

CTX’s balanced scoring and 28 bench points fuel a wire-to-wire win over Schreiner

AUSTIN, Texas – The Concordia Texas women's basketball team put together one of its most complete performances of the season on Saturday afternoon, defeating Schreiner 74–63 inside the Deb & Don Christian Fieldhouse to earn its second SCAC victory. Behind dominant interior play, efficient shooting, and a major lift from the bench, the Tornados controlled the game wire‑to‑wire and improved to 5–10 overall and 2–4 in conference play.

CTX set the tone early, shooting 50 percent in the opening quarter and taking a 23–18 lead behind strong guard play and relentless pressure on the glass. The Tornados continued to build momentum in the second period, stretching the advantage to 41–30 at halftime while holding Schreiner to just 26 percent shooting.

Shanna Brown delivered another standout performance, posting 18 points and a season‑high 17 rebounds, including 14 on the defensive end. Her presence inside anchored a CTX team that finished with 36 total rebounds and limited Schreiner to just 14 points in the paint.

Katelyn Tietjen fueled the offense with 19 points and five assists, knocking down both of her three‑point attempts and attacking the rim throughout the afternoon. Aja Holmes added 15 points off the bench on 5–9 shooting, while Taysie Trejo provided 12 points, five assists, and three steals, sparking several key runs in transition.

Concordia's bench contributed 28 points, and the Tornados capitalized on Schreiner's mistakes, turning 19 points off turnovers into separation during the middle quarters. CTX also shot an impressive 86 percent from the free throw line, going 25–29 to maintain control in the fourth.

Schreiner was led by Brie Sosa's 20 points, but CTX's balanced scoring and defensive execution kept the Mountaineers at arm's length throughout the second half.
