CTX Holds Off Schreiner to Move to 6–0 in SCAC

Concordia stays unbeaten in SCAC play behind balanced scoring and a 38-point bench surge.

AUSTIN, Texas – The Concordia Texas men's basketball team survived a fast paced battle on Saturday afternoon, beating Schreiner 98–95 inside the Deb & Don Christian Fieldhouse to remain unbeaten in SCAC play. The Tornados leaned on explosive guard play, a massive bench lift, and timely second chance scoring to move to 13–2 overall and 6–0 in conference action.

Concordia had to earn every bit of this one. Schreiner came out firing, pouring in 57 first half points behind hot perimeter shooting and a dominant effort on the offensive glass. CTX countered with 48 points of its own before halftime, then tightened the screws defensively in the second half holding the Mountaineers to 38 points while generating key stops in the final minutes.

The Tornados depth once again proved decisive. CTX's bench delivered 38 points, including efficient scoring from Tremayne Martin, Darone Leakes, and Jaiden Gastile. Concordia also controlled the interior, finishing with 54 points in the paint and 27 second‑chance points, repeatedly capitalizing on extra opportunities around the rim.

Aaron San Miguel powered the offense with a team‑high 19 points, knocking down five threes and adding six assists while playing a steady floor game. Joey Ramirez followed with 16 points and five rebounds, attacking the paint throughout the afternoon. Anariss Brandon added 16 points of his own, going 7–10 at the free throw line and providing timely scoring in transition. Percy Green anchored the interior with 9 points and 7 rebounds, while Martin, Leakes, and Gastile each chipped in eight.

The game featured 12 lead changes and 11 ties, with neither team leading by more than a few possessions. But in the closing minutes, CTX's defensive pressure and rebounding presence proved the difference, allowing the Tornados to close out their sixth straight conference win.
