ABILENE, Texas — Concordia Texas softball dropped the finale of its three-game series against McMurry on Friday morning, falling 2-1 at Edwards Field. Despite the loss, the Tornados still claimed the series after winning the first two games.
Both teams were locked in a scoreless pitching battle for much of the game as Concordia's Mia Post kept hitters off balance throughout the morning. Post tossed 6.2 innings in the circle, allowing just two runs on six hits while working through five walks.
The Tornados finally broke through in the top of the seventh inning. Molly Olivarez started the rally with a double before advancing to third on a passed ball. Karlee Mathis then reached on an error, allowing Olivarez to score and give Concordia a 1–0 lead.
McMurry answered in the bottom half of the inning, loading the bases with two outs before the War Hawks delivered a two-run double to walk off the game for the War Hawks.
Concordia Texas will next fly to Winter Haven, Florida to compete in the Spring Games starting this Sunday, March 15th against the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. First pitch is scheduled for 11 am CST (10am EST).
