AUSTIN, Texas - Concordia Texas Softball completed its series sweep of Austin College with an 11-3 win, using a dominant offensive performance to close out the weekend. Senior outfielder Kylie Denaro also broke the program's career stolen bases record at Roberts Family Field on Sunday.
The Tornados broke the game open in the second inning with a six-run frame. Karlee Mathis and Lilly Longoria each reached to set the table before Christian Everett delivered an RBI single that helped spark the rally. Katie Bethke followed with an RBI bunt single, and Malarie Mican added another hit to keep the inning alive.
Denaro then came through with an RBI single, later stealing second before Mican stole home as part of an aggressive base-running sequence. Molly Olivarez capped the inning with an RBI to give Concordia a commanding 6-0 lead.
Austin responded with a run in the third and added two more in the fourth, but the Tornados answered immediately. In the bottom of the fourth, Kylie Kirk tripled and later scored, while a heads-up baserunning play from Morgan Holdren resulted in another run to extend the lead to 8-3.
Concordia put the game away in the fifth inning. Christian Everett opened the frame with a triple, and Malarie Mican followed with an RBI single. After another hit from Denaro, Kirk delivered a sacrifice fly, and Olivarez added another RBI on a sacrifice fly to seal the 11-3 victory.
