Softball Run-Rules Hendrix Twice in Doubleheader

The Tornados scored 35 runs in the two games.

AUSTIN, Texas - The Concordia Texas softball team run-ruled Hendrix College twice in a doubleheader at Roberts Family Field. The Tornados scored a combined 35 runs in the two games, moving their win streak to six. The 18 runs scored in game one of the series marked the most scored by CTX since February 2022.

Game One: W, 18-3

The Tornados wasted no time setting the tone, scoring three runs in the first before erupting for seven more in the second inning to break the game open.

CTX piled on throughout, adding runs in every inning and finishing with 14 hits in the win. Malarie Mican led the charge at the top of the lineup, going 2-for-3 with two runs scored, while Kylie Denaro added two hits, three runs, and two RBI. Molly Olivarez also had a big day, finishing with two hits, three runs, and two RBI.

The Tornados showcased their depth offensively, drawing 10 walks and getting production up and down the lineup, including a three-RBI effort from Lilly Longoria and a late three-run double from Zalexis Perez to highlight a seven-run fourth inning.

In the circle, Kylie Kirk earned the win, allowing just two runs (none earned) over three innings while striking out two. CTX limited Hendrix to just four hits in the game.

Game Two: W, 17-2

Concordia carried the momentum into the nightcap, exploding for five runs in the first inning before putting the game out of reach with a nine-run second.

The Tornados finished with 18 hits in the game, highlighted by a balanced offensive attack. Denaro scored three times and added two hits, while Kirk drove in two runs on a pair of hits.

Kamryn Kothman also recorded two hits and two RBI, and Karlee Mathis helped her own cause with two hits and two RBI.

Mican delivered one of the biggest swings of the day with a three-run triple during the second-inning surge, while Christian Everett and Longoria each added two RBI performances.

In the circle, Mathis picked up the win, allowing just two runs (none earned) over three innings. Avery Rodriguez closed things out with two scoreless innings as CTX limited Hendrix to just three hits.

Concordia Texas will look to earn the series sweep and their seventh win in a row against Hendrix tomorrow. First pitch is scheduled for 11am.
