AUSTIN, Texas – The Concordia Texas softball team completed the series sweep with a 10-7 victory over LeTourneau on Friday afternoon at Roberts Family Field.
The Tornados wasted little time getting on the scoreboard, plating four runs in the bottom of the first inning. Molly Olivarez drove in the first run with an RBI single before Mia Post added another RBI single. Lilly Longoria capped the inning with a two-RBI single to give CTX a 4-0 lead.
LeTourneau answered with four runs in the second inning to even the score, highlighted by a two-RBI double from Brooke Bubert.
Concordia regained the lead in the third when Longoria delivered another RBI single to make it 5-4. The Tornados added two more runs in the fourth inning as Olivarez singled home a run and Post brought in another with an RBI groundout to push the lead to 7-4.
CTX continued to add on in the fifth inning. Harley Drouillard lifted a sacrifice fly before Kylie Denaro ripped an RBI triple to right center. Kylie Kirk followed with an RBI double to extend the advantage to 10-4.
LeTourneau mounted a late rally in the sixth inning with three runs to cut the deficit to 10-7, but Concordia shut the door the rest of the way.
In the circle, Mia Post earned the win after tossing 5.2 innings, allowing seven runs on 12 hits. Karlee Mathis entered in relief and recorded the final four outs to secure the save.
Concordia Texas will next travel to Abilene, Texas to take on McMurry for a series starting with a doubleheader next Thursday, March 12th. First pitch is scheduled for 4pm.
