Late Inning Surge Propels Softball Past Ozarks

Tornados plated two in the seventh to complete the series sweep.

CLARKSVILLE, Arkansas - The Concordia Texas softbll team picked up a 4-2 win over Ozarks on Saturday, completing the series sweep. The Tornados plated a pair of runs in the final frame to secure the victory.

CTX struck first in the opening inning, capitalizing on a bases-loaded situation to take a 1-0 lead.

Ozarks answered in the fourth with two runs to briefly move in front, but Concordia stayed composed and responded in the fifth where Kylie Denaro delivered a clutch RBI double to tie the game at 2-2.

In the circle, Mia Post started and kept the Tornados in the game before turning things over to the bullpen.

Mallory Mata worked through traffic in the fifth, and Mayson Post came in to close things out. Post was excellent down the stretch, tossing two scoreless innings and stranding runners to earn the win.

Concordia broke through in the seventh with two runs to take control. Kylie Kirk sparked the rally with a single, and the Tornados followed with back-to-back productive at-bats, including an RBI from Molly Olivarez and a sacrifice fly from Karlee Mathis to make it 4-2.

Concordia Texas will next travel to Irving, Texas for a make-up game with the University of Dallas this Tuesday, April 14th. First pitch is scheduled for 4pm.
